Get It In Gold

Get It in Gold
By David Avila

I haven't seen a world that always makes sense today
Of course that's not a problem—it'll all now be okay
Instead just watch the surface of this whole icy road
And just before your time you'll see—but wait, get it in gold

In this way you know—there’s no way not to read between the lines
I don't see the world that sees me different in a whole other life
It's not the one I live or even the one I've known
Just join the world, attest to this, as you let it all unfold

There's one that's slightly different and one that doesn't see
The plethora of meaning made in this reality
I haven't got the freedom to watch the green grass grow
Trying to unlock something deeper—still, the deeper that I go

Colliding with indifference and still shocking to its core
A place that knows not bounds beyond what's mine and what's yet yours
Can’t let it in, can’t hold what’s there—bringing back what’s not shown
The empty hands reflecting what I found on the icy road

But not to know freedom found in what cannot be seen
Or touched, or tasted—tempted by aromas I breathe
And still portray a picturesque moment hulking down below
I've said it once, I'll say again—you must get it in gold
