Forever and a Day
Forever and a Day
By David Avila
I hide inside this poem
and that one
they let me in
-and let me hide in their words
their images
their brief moments of clarity
and somehow I find myself again
if only for a snapshot in time
I let myself be found
-only to become lost again
how fantastic to lose myself in something
something I cannot know
something I cannot hold
I lost that
I want this
-I missed him or her
I wisped away
I wished upon a star
and found nothing
but a laugh and a love and a life for oh but a second
but that second lasted me an eternity
and in that second I found forever
-and lost my forever again
it is good that I won’t have forever soon
but soon will never come
-thank the gods
