The Six Dollar Leap by David Avila
The Six Dollar Leap
By David Avila
you leap before you look
land before you know
just the direction that you choose with no solid ground below
not knowing
until
until
until the lights
come
come back
come back on
you touch before they move
away no looking back
unstable footing showed the way
ignoring what's all come before this knowing
knowing it won't last
as it were holding yourself in such high regard
she isn't now so gone
don't you know they're still with you today
broken pieces laid about
unheard
unheard
unheard coherence
to be or not to be unmade
red eyes dreaming still a dream
a dream that vanishes again before the words come
I listen for it to come back
with no layered vison speaking words
wise one who says I know them all but only trust in you
a debt that one can pay
surprised but yet will say
it's doable although you think it puts you in the grey
yes is what you said
waiting for it to light the way that you're already on
a kind patience required to sit in stillness
and not know
to life and where it's led you let them in
with the game now afoot
how
how
how to stay ahead
